Our Garden Wedding Reception

Ahhhh yes.. Our wedding reception. Basi? Hehe.. Ia kot.. But I still haven't blogged about it plus macam Sha cakap; selagi inai di jari masih ada, selagi tu la considered pengantin baru kot hehe..

So anyways, our reception theme was pretty much the same as our Nikah theme:
White & Green; "Au Naturale". And since I'm such an environment lover, there was no better reception than a Garden Wedding. Alhamdulillah, we didn't have to look far for a garden because there's a park right behind my parents house hehe.. And as mentioned in one of my very early entries (click here to see photos of what the park actually looks like) we managed to speak to the developer and they allowed us to use the park for our reception.. Yippe!!

As usual, untuk the reception pun
we didn't want anything fancy or over-the-top. Simplicity will do, thank you very much. Venue dah ada, apa lagi, research ah! So after plenty of research we had a vision in mind. And with the help of my colleagues, our dream garden wedding became a reality.. =D

The
decorations stretched all the way from the carpark right to our reception marquee. To begin with, the stairs were decorated and we had two arches with greenery put up along the walkway. The trees along the walkway to the reception marquee were decorated with flowers and butterflies. At the tree tops, ribbons were stretched from either side to give a "canopy walkway" feel. The trees along the walkway opposite the reception marquee plak were decorated with white and green satin materials to add intimacy to the reception (tak nak la nanti orang lain yang takde kena mengena duk ngintai² our reception la kan..) Dekat sebelah our reception marquee plak ada gazebo so kita pakai balik the organza curtains yang i tempah for our house during the Nikah. During the reception, I noticed that a number of our guests chose the gazebo as their chill out spot so I guess berjaya la kot taruk the organza curtains kat sana hehe..

Inside the
reception marquee itself, everything was white. ALL WHITE. Because err.. Macam Miss X sebut in her entry 2days ago, memang susah nak cari supplier yang supply warna² yang tak shocking. Because I wanted apple green tapi supplier tu cuma ada errr... buruk green hehe.. Dah macam fluorescent green dah aku tengok colour dia so no, no, no. All white je please. Thanks eh! The marquee was then decorated with ceiling centerpieces that were made using plastic grass mats that were rolled up and accented with cutsie butterflies. I loike! FYI, plastic grass mats tu boleh dibeli kat kedai² pemborong bunga tiruan and butterflies tu kat mana² kedai pemborong barang-barang perkahwinan. Kalau lagi rajin, buatlah sendiri butterfly tu hehe.. Table deco pun sangat² simple.. Just some hand made flower arrangements.. ;)

Last but not least,
our pelamin. We got the pelamin from the same supplier that did our pelamin for the Nikah. And thank God this time she did exactly what i told her cos right after the Nikah we popped by the park just to make sure that everything was where it was supposed to be. Kalau salah lagi, tak tau la nak cakap apa. Cos lepas Nikah tu semua settle dah kul 11+ malam dah and kalau ada kesilapan kat pelamin tu it would probably have been too late to fix the problem. But yes, pelaminnya perfect! Just what I had wanted! It was all white and the same type of plastic grass mats that we used as our deco centerpieces were used as a backdrop of the pelamin. And of course, it had to be decorated with lots and lots of fresh flowers..

Makanan? MMMmmmm...
Makanan memang sangat² sedap ok! We used an Indian caterer called 'Gobal Catering'. Yes, i tau.. Korang mesti tertanya, "Indian"?! Yes, Indian. Because dia ni handal. Dia boleh masak ikut citarasa India ataupun Melayu sebab ingredients yang dia gunakan tu berbeza bila dia masak untuk wedding Melayu berbanding ingredients yang dia gunakan untuk wedding India. Kawan² semua makan sampai 2-3 round, saudara-mara lagi la, toksah cakap. Sampai tahap a few of my relatives amik contact number dia and ada sorang yang siap tanya whether dia bleh datang Singapore untuk masak tuk future function dia hehe.. Even aku yang kat meja pengantin tu pun teringin nak melantak makanan tu tapi takle la kan sebab kena control chantek hehe.. Rasanya i pernah blog pasal dia but anyways, this guy has got over 25 years of experience in the catering industry. Dan yang paling penting he even caters for Sultan of Johor punya family functions so kalau Sultan pun pakai dia, mestilah sedappppp.. Kalau sesapa nak contact dia, just drop me an email k?

So itulah dia, the summary of our garden wedding reception. Pasal baju, MUA dan sewaktu dengannya, tunggu dulu ye.. Lain entry kita sambung hehe.. For now, here are some photos of our reception.. ;)

He Might Get RM5,000

Remember when I said that hubby was working on that BOH tea campaign "1 Ummph, 1 Smile, 1 Malaysia" where the winner will get RM5,000? Tak ingat, click here. Anyways, here's a sad but cute story that I wanted to share about this young boy who suffers from mental retardation. To me, ni la dia rakyat contoh. Walaupun kurang upaya dia masih mampu mencari rezeki yang halal. Budak ini sangat² chomel.. Nasib baik aku takde kat sana masa tu cos if I was there, I might just have hugged this kid! Nape dia chomel? Silalah baca conversation dia dengan my hubby when Winder approached him to participate in the campaign:

Winder: Hey bro, would you like to smile for Malaysia?

KFC Kid: Yes sure, why not!

So Winder pun explain la mechanics contest ni kat budak tu: "All you need to do is smile! And fill up this form with your name, IC no. and your contact number.."

KFC Kid: Oh ok.. I see..

Winder: So what's your IC number bro?

KFC Kid: I'm sorry sir but I cannot remember my IC number. Excuse me sir, but my hands are dirty. I go wash my hands first ok?

Winder: Alright bro, no worries..

Padahal hubby cakap ngan aku tangan dia tak kotor pun cos he was only holding a broom je. See? That's good parenting! Parents dia tahu anak dia kurang upaya so obviously the parents must have taught this boy good personal hygiene. But anyways, budak tu pun masuk balik ke KFC untuk cuci tangan dia and when he came back:

Winder: Alright bro.. You want to fill in the form or would you like me to fill it in for you?

KFC Kid: Can also lah, you fill it in for me..

So budak tu pun pass Winder his IC and Winder pun tolonglah isi form tu. Then bila sampai part handphone number, Winder tanya dia:

Winder: Bro, what's your mobile number eh?

KFC Kid: Mobile? Err.. What's a mobile number, sir?

Winder: Your handphone number bro..

KFC Kid: Oh, I don't have a handphone. But I can give you my mummy's handphone number. My mummy's handphone number is...

Winder: Alright bro, cool. Do you have a Facebook account? Your picture will be uploaded there so you can see it online..

KFC Kid: Facebook? No sir, I don't have Facebook.

Winder: It's alright bro, no worries. So if you win, we'll give your mummy a call k? Thank you so much for your time man..

KFC Kid: Thank you, sir!

Then masa Winder dah nak gerak, budak tu panggil Winder balik and said:

KFC Kid: Excuse me, sir.. Actually, I don't care if I win or not. Because I like to smile. And I will smile for Malaysia..

This was such a
heart-warming story and Winder was so excited to tell me about it when he got home from work. When he told me about it I just kept going, "Awwwww.. So sweet..". Menitik air mata masa tulis entry ni.. Orang-orang macam budak ni la yang mengingatkan kita to be happy with what we have. We humans are always so busy looking for money to buy that posh house, that designer handbag, new killer heels and other luxury items that we forget how fortunate we really are: Because we are healthy. Kami sempurna. And yet we're always unhappy with what we have. And here he is, someone so much less fortunate than us but yet he always faces life with a smile.

Moral:
Be grateful for what you have. "But she has this and he has that.." - Stop comparing yourself to others.

Syukur Alhamdulillah; God couldn't have blessed me with better parents than my own because they fed me, clothed me, raised me, loved me unconditionally and they have stood by me through thick & thin whether I was wrong or right. Tiada kasih sayang yang dapat dibandingkan dengan kasih sayang seorang ibu dan ayah. Syukur Alhamdulillah; God has blessed me with beautiful brothers who love me more than life itself. Syukur Alhamdulillah; God has sent me an angel to look after me, guide me, care for me and love me for the rest of my life - I ♥ you hubby.. You are truly God sent..
