I know I'm supposed to be updating about our Euro trip. And I know I should be blogging about the wedding last weekend. But; I haven't done that. Instead I spent the day editing photos for our Facebook page and it's done! At least now that dark cloud isn't over my head anymore. Two more clouds to go!

At least now Chenta Weddings is on Facebook. Don't forget to "Like" us.. ;)

The Good, The Bad & Chenta Weddings

In life, there are always the good things and the bad things. Sometimes bad things have to happen before any good can come out of it. But sometimes, you just can't help but ask yourself; "Why me?!".

I have had a good life. Alhamdulillah. But having a good life still didn't prepare me for some of the obstacles that I have faced in recent years. In October 2008, I was retrenched from my darling job at EMI Music. We had seen it coming cos ever since the introduction of mp3's, we had seen drastic decline in album sales. Take Ella for example; the 1st year that I was with EMI Music her albums were still selling about 75,000 copies. The 2nd year; her album sales dropped to 40,000 copies. And during the last year; her album 'Rama-Rama' sold no more than 25,000 copies. But who to blame right? Even I download mp3's. Then finally our worst fears came true when our MD announced that EMI Music Malaysia will finally be closing its doors in October 2008. Some of our acts like Ella, Amuk and Fiq were signed over to Warner Music. And me? Well.. I was out of a job. No more glitz and glamour of the PR world. No more traveling abroad with the stars for MTV Asia Awards, no more APM and no more AIM. So I moved on.. But I didn't want to go back to the music industry because I felt that if EMI Music can close down, so can other labels.

One month later, in November 2008 I joined the creative department of an events company. It was a whole new thrill for me. The working hours were long at times. Sometimes even until 5am in the morning. But it was worth it. My job scope included coming up with creative ideas for TV content, opening ceremonies and product launches. Also on my plate was stuff like marketing plans, site recces, designing and bla bla bla.. In this modern age, it's really hard to do just one thing at work cos multi-tasking is a must. But this year, the events line took a downward spiral. We starting receiving less job offers and at some point we barely had anything to do at the office. And upon my return from Europe (just one week after I got back) , I received a phone call from my boss. Bad news. The company was shutting down. What?! Didn't I just get retrenched 2years ago? Last week I dropped by the office and packed up my desk. I was overwhelmed with sadness.

So here I am now; nearing the age of 30 without a job. But maybe, just maybe, it was all a blessing in disguise. Maybe this is fate. And maybe Allah s.w.t is merely pushing me in the right direction because I have decided to stop working and concentrate fully on Chenta Weddings. So in the last couple of weeks since my return from Europe I have kept myself busy with just that. Fellow bloggers and beloved readers, please do pray for the success of Chenta Weddings. And to all you brides-to-be, please do not hesitate to drop us an email if you're interested in our services and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with our low prices.. ;)

This Saturday will be a big day for Chenta Weddings as we have a wedding to work on where we're supplying everything like booking the venue, providing canopies and tables & chairs, the pelamin, the decor, the doorgifts, the catering and... Oh gosh, you name it and we'll do it. At this point of time, all I can do is pray that everything will go smoothly.

The canopies were already set up yesterday and today the hubby is already at the garden (yes, it's a garden wedding.. whee!) to set up the photo booth as well as the gazebo where coffee & tea will be served after the formal dinner. Tomorrow I'll be starting my first day of work at the garden in terms of setting up the decor. Can't wait! At the moment I'm still working on some of the preparations for the decor that will be used for the wedding. Here's a sneak peak:

That's all for now cos I have to get back to work. But insya'Allah next week I'll definitely be uploading some very delicious photos of the wedding. Till then..

ps. Shoot! I still have updated the blog about our Euro trip. I guess that too will have to wait for next week.. =/

I'm Back!

Wow.. It's been a while. To be precise; it's been 5 weeks since my last entry!! Guess I should get the broom out of the closet to clean the cobwebs on this blog. Anyways...

Selamat hari raya aidilfitri semua!! Mohon maaf zahir batin.. Especially to my fellow blogger friends. Aku tau aku banyak dosa ngan korang sebab aku dah lama tak blog walk dan tinggalkan comment² yang dipenuhi dengan kasih sayang hehe.. Ye, ye.. Aku sedar aku ni lembab; orang lain dah puas beraya aku plak baru nak wish korang selamat hari raya. But it's the thought that counts kan? Hehe..

So where have I been these last 5 weeks? We've been on our long awaited and postponed honeymoon. Kahwin January tapi August baru pergi honeymoon. Pengantin basi hehe.. Ye la.. Dah dua² kerja events line dapat leave memang susah. So lepas kita settle wedding Mooky & Ayesha we finally went on our honeymoon. Where did we go? Europe.. *smiles*

Oh! And a very big H-E-L-L-O to all of Bridal Supernova's new followers; thank you for following my humble blog. And for those of you who have linked Bridal Supernova, terima kasih many² for the support. =)

It's nice to finally be blogging again. But I'll save details of our honeymoon for my next entry.. ;)

Mooky and Ayesha's Awesome Black & White Wedding

Salam Ramadhan semua..

First and foremost, I'd like to take this opportunity to say "CONGRATULATIONS: YOU GUYS ARE FREAKIN' HALAL!!" to my dearest friends Mooky & Ayesha. I've known Mooky for a good 7 years now; he was so adorable back then (you still are Mooks). I can still remember the first time we met (at Rock The World) and the first time we really hung out together. Those were rockstar days that are unforgettably awesome. Then a couple of years ago Mooky got all excited when he started falling for lovable Ayesha. She's so cute and uber fun. Ask any of her friends and they'll tell you the same! ;)

Anyways, as mentioned I was sangat² busy lately working on a Black & White wedding. And I know I kept saying a goooood friends wedding but I never mentioned whose it was. Well.. Sekarang korang dah tahu dah! It was Mooky's wedding. Ataupun mungkin dia lebih dikenali sebagai Mooky One Buck Short. Oh, and not to forget; of course his brother Taq who with his wife Donna celebrated this happy day too!

Chenta Weddings involvement for their wedding was that of a wedding planner, designer, decorater and event manager. So in May we started planning. Yang penting, pengantin nak a glamorous Black & White wedding reception. The rest; is up to me katanya. So we started by designing his wedding invitations, then we progressed on building the theme of his wedding around that of the invitation. Then later came the task of deciding on a budget that he would be willing to spend on the wedding. Keeping his budget in mind; I recommended several options for decor. So people.. Without further ado, here is Mooky & Ayesha's Awesome Black & White Wedding!

Mundzir & Ayesha - 07.08.10 by Chenta Weddings

The Entrance: We hung rows of paper lanterns between lamp posts to usher guests towards the wedding reception as they drove their cars across the bridge.

Ceiling Decor: We hung handmade black & white ceiling decor at the entrance to greet guests before they entered the reception hall.

The Reception: An overall glimpse of the reception hall.

The Red Carpet: We scattered fresh rose petals along the red carpet that was lined with bird cages all the way from the entrance.

The Pillars: We covered the pillars of the hall in black cloth and then attached butterflies to them to add that little Chenta touch.

Wishing Tree: Mooky & Ayesha's Wishing Tree on the reception table with customized wishing tags.

Wishing Tree: Taq & Donna's tree.

Photo Wall: Right behind the reception tables, I set up a little photo wall with polaroids of their pre-wedding shots.

The Guest Tables: A fresh white floral garden in a customized black & white vase with handmade monograms to compliment the arrangment.

Meja Pengantin: Fresh white flowers in a candle-lit cage. Fresh imported white roses.

Meja Pengantin: The serviettes await the brides & grooms.

Meja Pengantin: I wanted to give them something glamorous yet romantic and simple for the Meja Pengantin. And this is what I came up with.

The Meja Pengantin

The Pelamin: by Zielynn's Boutique

The Pengantin's: Taq & Donna and Mooky & Ayesha

Zielynn's Boutiqe

Remember the Black & White wedding that I was talking about in my last entry? Well, last minute; tuan yang patut buat pelamin tuk reception bagitau that dia tak boleh buat pelamin tu. Instead, dia just nak bagi meja beradab sahaja kat atas stage. Pengantin pun kelam kabut call aku minggu lepas and minta tolong carikan vendor lain yang boleh buat pelamin for less than RM2,000. Pelamin dewan for less than RM2,000??! Hmmm.. Susah tu. Lucky thing my best friend Google was there to help me out. Search punya search ada a few vendors yang harga dia below the budget tapi aku tak minat cos design pelamin diorang either outdated (pelamin macam zaman 90'an) ataupun tak berkualiti. But then I came across Zielynn's Boutique fotopages account. After going through her page, I decided to give her a call. Over the phone I explained the situation to her. Ye la, sebab masa I call her tu pun dah tinggal 3 weeks je till the reception date and budget pun dah fixed so I memang takle nak exceed the budget given to me by the pengantin. Alhamdulillah, walaupun short notice, Kak Zie still had an available slot for the 7th of August tu.

Then last weekend I dropped by her office/boutique that's located in Puncak Jalil. Dekat je ngan rumah Puan Jacky. Nasib baik dulu pernah pergi rumah kawan kat area sana so takde la sesat gila. Kak Zie ni peramah, easy to work with dan sangat baik hati orangnya. Since the theme for the reception is black & white; I had to be specific ngan Kak Zie. For eg. backdrop pentas nak colour hitam, tuk 3 panel tu: tengah I nak Damask then kiri kanan tu nak langsir putih with black lining and bla bla bla. Respond Kak Zie? Boleh.. Boleh.. Boleh.. Ok.. Takde hal.. Boleh.. Pendek kata; aku suka. Aku suka orang yang tak mengira. Sebab dah ramai dah orang yang aku jumpa yang sangat mengira. For eg. Kalau yang ni I nak tukar macam ni boleh ke? Jawapan mereka: Oh. Kalau you nak macam tu, you kena tambah la. Padahal benda tak susah mana pun. Padahal benda tak mahal mana pun. Deposit telahpun dibayar. Yang tu pun Kak Zie sangat flexible. Deposit untuk book tarikh hanya RM200.00. Then 2 months before the wedding bayar balance 50% and on the reception day itself bayar balance lagi 50%. Tapi kes aku ni lain skit la, aku bayar 50% terus (takde booking² fee) sebab dah last minute. Lepas dah settle business, kita dok sembang² kosong. Best. I'm looking forward to work with Kak Zie. =D

Kat bawah ni ada some contoh² pelamin yang aku "curi" dari account Fotopages dia untuk korang tengok. Haaaa.. Cantik kan? Nanti dah settle reception, aku akan update korang ngan gambar² pelamin berkonsep black & white tu. Can't wait! Wheeeeee! Excited! Hehe.. Macam aku plak yang kahwin lagi kan? ;p

The Black & White Wedding

Wow. Lama sungguh aku tak blog. It's been like what? Almost 3 weeks? Hmmmm.. Lama betul tu. Nope, aku tak pergi bercuti macam Phia kat Pulau Redang. Hais.. Best nyeeee cuti. Kat pulau plak tu. My favourite kinda holiday destination. And insya'Allah if everything goes smoothly the Winder and I will also be leaving for our honeymoon soon. Finally!!

Asides to work and my ever so mundane life I've been busy with a little bit of wedding planning. Tak la, aku tak kahwin lagi. Kahwin sekali tu cukup la kan? This is for a friend. A very good friend. A very, very good old friend. Nikah dia sudah lepas (2 weeks ago) so alhamdulillah mereka berdua sudah Halal hehe.. Reception belah perempuan pun sudah lepas. She had a beautiful garden wedding reception at Lake Titiwangsa tapi buat masa ni aku akan 'hold'kan dulu entry pasal reception dia sebab gambar tak siap lagi hehe.. Hornymoon pun diorang dah pergi last week and they should be back in KL today.

Anyways, the theme for his reception is the ever so classic: Black & White. And I've got just the perfect reception planned out for him. So anyways, reception belah pengantin lelaki ni will be held in 3 weeks time!! OMG! I'm almost out of time. Haha.. Aku plak panic kan? Pengantin relax je.. Most of the things that I need for the reception dah ada dah. Fresh flowers pun dah order so tinggal nak pick up je nanti. The only problem is that his caterers tak ada table cloth or table runner colour hitam. And budget nak beli yang baru lagi lah takde kan. So skarang aku tengah fikir: Macam mana aku nak buat table cloth / table runner at ZERO cost?

I gotta make it work; somehow.

I will make it work; somehow.

Qudyn's Magical Fingers

Qudyn has been in the industry for quite a while now. I first heard of him about 3 years ago when one of my girlfriends was getting married. She ended up not using Qudyn's services but instead she chose to work with Syomir Izwa.

Recently our fashionably gorgeous blogger friend Zaza got married and she used Qudyn's services. And I must say that she couldn't have chosen any wiser. Zaza appeared for her nikah like a vintage Goddess; accentuating her classic lace kurung with pearls instead of the usual blings seen for weddings. Her reception dress was so gorgeous that it would probably have made Allahyarhamah Saloma turn in her grave. It was a beautiful silk dress embellished with beautiful lace embroidery and beadings.

Qudyn's workmanship for her dresses was flawless. Just have a look for yourself.

Congratulations on your wedding Zaza + Hash. Semoga berkekalan ke anak cucu. =)

The Bridal Bouquet Concept

Fresh flower bridal bouquets are beautiful. But sadly, they don't last forever. Lepas mengheret bunga tangan tu kehulur kehilir sepanjang hari, bunga tu kalau bleh tahan seminggu dah kira untung dah. Preserving your bridal bouquet is good option for you to keep it as a keepsake from your wedding provided of course the flowers you chose can be preserved eg. roses. Tapi kalau bouquet tu guna flowers like orchids or hydrangea's; lupakanlah niat di hati nak simpan bouquet tu. Unless of course you send it to preserved professionally which can be quite a pricey option.

The good news is that there are bridal bouquets that will last f-o-r-e-v-e-r. Here are some unique and fun bridal bouquet ideas. You'll be able to keep these for a lifetime without having to worry about the flowers rotting away.

Wedding Invitations:The Old vs The New

Apa pendapat korang tentang kad kahwin? I mean, there are so many different options of wedding invitations out there; some are simple, some are extravagant, some are unique and some are super fun. And of course la bila kita pilih kad mewah, harga pun mewah and bila kita pilih kad simple, harga pun simple. So kad kahwin jenis apa yang korang suka?

I personally think that wedding invitations should be kept simple because simple also means cost-efficient. Takde la membazir sampai budget tuk kad kahwin dah sampai beribu Ringgit. Why? Because people throw them away. Only those who are close to you are likely to keep your wedding invitations because there is sentimental value to the card.

source: Google Images

Most Malay wedding invitations come in folds. Tak kisah la dia 1-fold ke, 2-fold ke, 3-fold. Yang penting, mesti nak kena ada fold {please don't penalize me on this statement; it's merely an observation I've made based on all the wedding invitations I have received} like the one picture above. And prices for cards like these can range anything from RM2 to even RM8 per card. Kidding? Nope. Tak kidding pun. Tak percaya pergi la buat Google search and check out some of Malaysia's card vendor prices. I think it's ok to order cards like these but probably just for the close family members. Tapi kalau nak bagi kat semua orang memang tak dapat la.

Think about it: eg. RM5 per card x 1,000 guests = RM5,000.00

Do you really want to spend that much on invites knowing that they'll be thrown into the trash bin? Baik spend duit tu on a better photographer ke, on a nicer wedding dress ke apa ke.

source: Google Images

This is a more western influenced style for wedding invitations. Size biasanya A5 {that's half the size of our usual A4 paper}. But this trend is still very new in Malaysia. As a matter of fact, when printers see these A5 cards, they're intrigued. Even friends and family members are impressed when they see these cards. Prices range from as low as RM0.45 per card to RM0.65 per card for a 1,000pcs.

Now think about this: eg. RM0.65 per card x 1,000 guests = RM650.00

You see the price difference? You've saved RM4,350.00. Apa lagi? Go for a nice honeymoon la with all that money you've saved.

screen shot: wedding kami

Now here is something that is very economical: the e-wedding invitation. Not only is it affordable but it's also very environmentally friendly. A girlfriend of mine recently hired Wedding Kami to design her e-invitation for her and I must say that it turned out pretty cute. Prices from Wedding Kami are also reasonable; ranging from RM400.00 to RM1,500.00 per invitation and they've also got the option for you to get these cards printed out {biasalah tu, tak semua orang berumur reti nak check email or even go online kan?}.

So.. Which type of wedding invitation would you go for?

Indie Wedding Songs

Not everyone wants to have the same old pop songs playing during their wedding; provided of course the parents don't have a say in the selection. You can find a million and one romantic love songs online ranging from the 1960's all the way to the 2000's but finding those special Indie songs with a love message in them is not an easy feat.

Personally, I've always been a sucker for music. Same goes to the hubby. And we're on a completely different scale of music: He mainly loves Metal amongst other genres while I am a little more into Electro and Indie these days. So for our wedding video, we wanted to express who we are with the songs that we selected. So for all you Indie lovers out there, here's the list of songs that made the final cut for our full wedding video:

1. The Pogues - Love You 'Till The End
2. The Cure - Love Song
3. Bob Marley - Is This Love
4. The Beatles - Love Me Do
5. Adam Sandler - I Wanna Grow Old With You
6. Death Cab For Cutie - Soul Meets Body
7. The Postal Service - Such Great Heights
8. Jack Johnson - Better Together
9. Coldplay - Fix You
10. Muse - Endlessly
11. No Doubt - Running
12. The Cranberries - What's On My Mind
13. The Wannadies - You And Me Song
14. The Ramones - Baby I Love You
15. Dashboard Confessional - Stolen
16. Bittersweet - Get It On

Like this? You can download the songs here.

ps. Yes, I know. Muse isn't Indie. Neither were the Ramones nor Bob Marley. But at least they're not pop songs. ;)

Download Freebies - Budget Planner

One thing that many brides & grooms or parents fail to execute smoothly in planning a wedding is managing the budget. Once you have set the date for your wedding, you should start planning out your budget right away. Kenapa? Agak² je tak boleh ke? No, tak boleh. Because without a budget planner, you'll be spending away without keeping track of all your expenditures and chances are that you'll end up spending more than you can afford. Some people even end up taking personal loans just to pay for their wedding and that's not good. Not good at all. Think about it: Do you really want to start of your marriage having to pay for an unnecessary loan?

We've set the date of our engagement/wedding. What do I do now?
Awesome! You should start planning your budget now.

Why is budget planning so important?
Weddings are expensive affairs so planning your budget is very important. You don't want to end up spending too much on one area and then end up not having enough money to spend on another area. Planning your budget out in advance will help you keep track of all your estimated and actual expenditures.

How do I start planning my budget?
Start by creating a budget plan. You can also download the free engagement & wedding budget planners I have created from the links below. Once you've decided on how much you are willing to spend on the entire wedding eg. RM35,000.00 you can start filling in the blanks in the budget planner. The budget planners that I have created are extremely detailed and cover almost every aspect of a wedding so be careful not to miss out on any of the details.

I've exceeded my budget. What do I do now?
Alright. Say your budget is RM35,000.00 but after filling in the budget planner your estimated cost has risen to RM40,780.00. What you do next is carefully look at your estimated cost again. You will definitely find areas where you can cut your cost. Eg. You estimated RM10,000 for catering. Perhaps you can re-negotiate with your caterer and get them to give you a discount. Do note that sharing your budget with your vendors while you negotiate is a good thing because most vendors are willing to give discounts to work around your budget. This scenario can pretty much apply to any other areas. Before you know it, you'll be able to cut your costs here and there and you'll be able to meet that RM35,000.00 budget of yours.

You see, by having a budget planner, you'll be documenting every single cent that you are spending. And at the end of the wedding you'll know exactly where all your money went. AND, if you behave; the budget planner will help you stick to your budget. Happy downloading and happy planning! ;)

This section is so very sweet because I'll be posting all the latest sales in town so that you guys can shop till you drop for your hantarans, decor, home appliances über cool discounts.

Why the new Bridal Supernova? Well.. Bridal Supernova was never my personal blog. It was our wedding blog. So since I finished blogging about our wedding, I thought it was a bit odd to keep updating the blog. That's why I've moved the "original" Bridal Supernova to another URL so that those memories can be left untouched.

For now, you guys can still read all my previous posts (February 2009-June 2010) on this blog but please be warned that I'll be deleting the old posts very soon. The "original" Bridal Supernova blog that you guys know has now moved and been renamed to Our Supernova.

My Final Post - Our Wedding Video

This will be my final post. Because this post sums up our wedding in its entirety.

Unlike most of my other posts, I'll keep this one short and snappy because there isn't much to say. Semua benda yang perlu dikatan tentang our wedding, aku dah katakan dalam post² aku sebelum ni. So kira our wedding video ni macam ringkasan tentang our entire wedding. Initially aku tak nak post video ni cos.. Well.. It is our wedding video. So ingat nak keep it private la kan. But then again, videographer dah post kat blog, website & account Vimeo dia so I know that a few bloggers like Sofia and Yaya have actually seen the video a while ago. So since ada a few yang dah tengok, I decided to share it with all of you.. ♥

Untuk pengetahuan semua, Johor ni tak ramai wedding videographer. Kalau ada pun, most of them agak ol' skool. Editing video macam kat zaman 80'an & 90'an; agak ketinggalan zaman. Yuck! Masa nak book videographer for our wedding plak, those yang aku minat (macam CSP dan sewaktu dengannya) dah ada orang yang book so nak tak nak aku terpaksa cari videographer yang based kat Johor. Alhamdulillah, akhirnya aku jumpa gak sorang videographer yang not bad kat JB. Korang bleh baca previous post tu kat sini.

Our videographer Sulaiman, dari Manis DV Studio was a very cool guy. During our wedding dia buat kerja dengan senyap, tak perasan pun gerak geri dia. Tau², dia dah ada kat tepi la, kat depan la, kat belakang la hehe.. Editing dia pun not bad la gak and harga dia pun affordable. Buat mereka yang bakal bernikah di Johor, silalah check out Vimeo page Manis DV Studio. Ada banyak lagi wedding highlights yang dia upload kat situ..

Sedih. Ni la dia post terakhir about our wedding. Aku rasa ada beberapa benda yang korang akan tanya ataupun comment pasal video ni so aku bagi jawapannya dulu ye hehe.. ;p

Kenapa masa starting video tu nampak macam kelam kabut je semua orang?
Memang kelam kabut pun. Sebab macam aku pernah katakan dulu, semuanya aku ngan Winder yang uruskan dengan bantuan mummy dan abah aku. So masing² tengah serabut. Takut ada je benda yang terlupa. Last minute barulah orang nak sibuk tolong². Hais..

Kenapa time Tok Kadi berdepan ngan aku sedara-mara aku semua berdiri?
Haaa.. Sebab.. Sebenarnya tetamu yang dijemput dalam 70 orang sahaja. Tapi yang datang dalam 100 lebih. Jadi, rumah abah aku tu jadi sempit. Tambah plak tu s-e-m-u-a orang seboleh-bolehnya nak tengok akad Nikah. Inilah jadinya hehe.. Sampaikan tahap hantaran perlu dibawa naik ke bilik, sampaikan tahap aku tak dapat duduk kat bantal pengantin yang aku dah sediakan, sampaikan tahap mummy aku sendiri nak duduk pun takde tempat. Ni la jadinya kalau takde RSVP. Ish.

Tok Kadi aku ni memang kelakar ke?
Hahahaa.. Yes!! Tok Kadi aku memang the best.

Kenapa aku nangis masa sanding tu?
Untuk pengetahuan semua, abah aku pernah kena serangan jantung a few years ago and he had to undergo major surgery. Alhamdulillah, dia recover tapi dia still refuse untuk berhenti merokok. So masa dia merenjis tu aku berasa sangat bersyukur sebab abah dapat tengok anak perempuan dia yang sorang ni kahwin dan sebab tu la airmata aku ni melimpah.

Memang sengaja ke kitorang menari kat hujung² video tu?
Tak. Sebenarnya time tu kitorang tengah buat photoshoot. Tapi Sulaiman sempat shoot. Kan aku dia cakap; si dia tu berkerja dengan senyap. Tau² dah ada..

Kitorang berlakon ke tuk last part video tu?
Sekali lagi, tidak. Semua tu diambil masa photoshoot.

Kenapa aku tak cakap langsung dalam video ni?
Entah. Tak terpikir pun nak cakap apa². Rasanya sebab minda aku sentiasa memikirkan the wedding preps and if everything will go smoothly. Inilah jadinya when you become your own wedding planner. Sigh.

ps. Tolong abaikan muka aku yang basi kat screen shot ni. Masa tu tengah nervous berdepan dengan Tok Kadi hehe..

The Tale of My Punjabi 'Wedding Gown'

The tale of my Lengha (baju tradisional yang dipakai oleh pengantin perempuan berbangsa Punjabi) is a long and hard road traveled. Truth be said, I actually started looking for my dream Lengha way before I started looking for my Javanese dress. Where did I finally buy it? Longgg story..

The hunt began at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman. Ye la, mesti la kena beli kain kan? Korang boleh baca pasal outing tu kat sini. So dah ke Jalan TAR kali pertama, tak jumpa apa². Sebab untuk pengetahuan korang, kain Lengha ni lain skit berbanding dengan kain sari biasa. Material dia tebal skit and it's more silky compared ngan most kain sari yang ala² chiffon tu. So ok la, kat Jalan TAR tak berjaya, aku ngan laki aku try kat Klang plak. Kitorang pun jalan la from one end to the other end of Little India kat Klang tu but no nice Lengha materials in sight. Tapi kat satu kedai ni kitorg jumpa this really nice Kurta (baju tradisional yang dipakai oleh pengantin lelaki berbangsa Punjabi) in white with blue embroidery. Punyalah cantik! Winder pun dah macam jatuh hati dah. Harga?? Sangat berbaloi! Hanya RM450 ok? Tawar punya tawar, at last dapat la untuk RM380 kalau tak silap. At least satu dah dapat la kan? So next mission, cari kain sari berwarna biru yang matching.

Since kat Klang tak jumpa kain sari kaler biru, minggu depan dia kita pun try balik kat Jalan TAR. Bawa baju laki aku tu ke hulur ke hilir untuk cari baju yang matching tapi.. Takde kain sari yang matching. Masa tu dah tinggal brape bulan je lagi nak kahwin. Rasanya dalam 2-3 bulan lagi kot so aku dah memang rasa cam nak nangis. Takpelah, kuatkan hati. Pergi Little India kat Klang tu lagi (travel dah macam orang gila kan?), and... *drumroll* alhamdulillah kat satu kedai kitorang jumpa this very, very nice sari material yang agak grand dan yang matching ngan baju Winder tu. Apa lagi, grab trus bayar la! But.. Yes, there is a BUT! Bila sampai rumah and aku letakkan kain sari aku tu kat sebelah baju Winder, tak matching LANGSUNG ok!! Shit! Rupanya kat kedai tu pakai lampu kuning sebab tu dia nampak matching. Tapi bila tengok kat bawah cahaya lampu fluorescent or even in the daylight, the colours did not match. At ALL! Sigh.

Back to Klang. Pulangkan kain tu. Refund? Tak dapat, jangan harap! Tapi aku dapat tukar ngan dress Punjabi lain. Ye la, nanti Deepavali bleh pakai buat jalan² pi visit family laki aku hehe.. Lepas pulangkan kain tu dengan muka yang dah nak nangis aku ni, kita try pusing² kat sana sekali lagi but... Nothing. Bukannya aku ni mengada-ngada pun nak tailor-made sangat. Kalau ready-made pun aku takde hal. Masalahnya 99.99% of the Lengha's yang mereka jual kat Jalan TAR or Little India Klang gunakan fabric murah. Kononnya chiffon but you can easily tell that it's actually polyester. Gila ke nak pakai polyester tuk sanding? Confirm panas!

In our final effort to look for something, we decided to look for ready-made ones in City One Plaza yang kat sebelah Semua House tu. For those of you who don't know, City One Plaza is a heaven where you can find kain songket, kain pelekat, custom-made bridal shoes and even jewelery. And I highly recommend anyone whose planning a Bollywood-themed wedding to shop there because they have so many options of ready-made Bridal Sari's and Lengha's. And harga dia pun boleh tahan affordable. The only irritating part about looking for ready-made Lengha's is the fact that most (all) shops don't hang them. They're individually packed and stacked up on shelves so kalau nak tengok tu memang tokey kedai kena tarik kluar satu². Anyways, kat sana pun aku tak jumpa yang matching ngan Winder punya. Hai.. Apa la nasib. At last, aku dah nak nangis. Wedding lagi 2 bulan, Lengha takde. Tapi thank God I have Winder. Masa aku dah nak terduduk dan menangis kat tengah² jalan bila tetiba dia cakap, "Let's try this shop.." - salah satu daripada kedai kat deret Jalan Masjid India tu. Aku cuba gak nak argue, nak cakap "It's no use, we've been everywhere!" tapi nak cakap pun macam dah tak larat dah. So Winder pun tarik tangan aku and aku pun ikut laki aku masuk kedai tu (Sorry, nama tak ingat. Nanti aku try check receipt kat umah). We went straight to the 2nd floor (Kat kedai² Jalan Masjid India kalau nak cari ready-made, naik atas terus je cos kat bawah tu memang mostly jual kain sahaja.) and I started looking right away. And there it was, sitting on the top shelf. Apa lagi, aku yang pendek ni terpaksa minta Winder tolong amikkan. Aku try. It was perfect! Perfect, perfect, perfect! Perfectly too big too hehe.. Serious. I wear size XS and I think it was like a size M. Takpe. Boleh alter kan? Price? RM480. Oops. Over budget. Yes, because aku kan dah terbazir duit kat Klang masa beli kain yang tak matching tu. Dammit. How la? Cuba tawar, tak dapat. Cuba lagi, dapat la discount skit. At the end selepas kita berdua merayu-rayu, tokey kedai cakap baju tu sangat sesuai ngan aku. And since it's for my wedding, dia tak nak disappoint aku so he closed the price at RM400. Sold! Hehe..

Last step was to send it for alteration. Kita hantar kat kakak Winder punya tailor je. And guess how much I paid to alter both his Kurta suit and my Lengha? RM100? RM200? Wrong! We paid the tailor a mere RM20 for both because he was doing Winder's sister a favour.. =D

And that ladies and gentleman, sums up the last detail of our wedding. I only have one entry left. After that, I'm done. ♥
